Fast Track Your Journey To Home Business Success
Few people have ever logged onto the Internet for the first timeand started pocketing money in a really short period of time... Aswith all things in life, there is a learning curve.
SOME PERSONAL HISTORY
Just a few short years ago I had a day job too.
Then I bought and read a book called:
"Multiple Streams of Income" by Robert Allen.
That book launched my own online journey because I learned that
to be secure, I HAD to create *at least* 1 extra income stream.
Every night after work and after my wife and children went to
sleep, I would get online and explore different ways of using the
Internet to make money.
In the months that followed, I spent over $10,000 racking up
credit card debt buying eBooks, membership sites, special
reports, opt-in leads, and joining every "guru" recommended
business opportunity that flew into my email inbox.
I stayed up learning, working, and drinking coffee until 5:00 in
the morning, month after month filled with the hope of making
money online.
In my first year of working part-time to build a home based
income, I finally broke through and earned over $100,000 in just
twelve months from the Internet.
BECOME THE MASTER OF YOUR LEARNING CURVE
Research the lives of all of the "gurus." The one thing that
you will learn is that my own experience is not unique. Most of
the high earners on the Internet experienced a learning curve
very similar to my own.
Chances are that your curve will also be similar to mine, but it
is my hope that you can get to the top faster than even I did.
one years was a long time to struggle, but every ounce of
struggle was worth the reward I have finally received.
In order to shorten your own learning curve, you must do a few
things differently than the rest of us did. You must become the
master of your learning curve.
THE SHORTEST DISTANCE BETWEEN TWO POINTS IS A STRAIGHT LINE
There is only one way to shorten the curve on the Internet:
You must plan to succeed!
Here is the deal. Most people put up a freebie website and select
a few affiliate programs to add to their website. Right out of
the gate, most people are running for the finish line without any
real plan in mind.
After a few short weeks, people begin to see the writing on the
wall that says, "This is going to be a long hard road."
People check their hit counters daily for six weeks before they
realize that getting traffic to their free site is going to be
tough.
At this point, they begin developing their first batch of
advertising. Then they spend countless months finding places to
show their advertisements for free. Some make an even more
drastic mistake by blowing thousands of hard earned dollars on
their new and untested ads.
These are the people who will learn the facts of life the hard
way.
In time, they will learn how to make their advertising work for
them, but most will earn very little money from their affiliate
programs.
At this point in the learning curve, most people throw up their
hands and walk away from their dreams in utter disgust. Instead
of a walking away point, this should have convinced the
struggling online entrepreneur that they were simply traveling
the wrong road.
YOU MUST PLAN TO SUCCEED
From day one, you must begin to learn about the nuances of web
promotion. Read everything you can get your hands on. Don't just
read the hype, back it up with the opinions of others who have
reviewed the same programs before you came along. Learn from
their mistakes and successes.
As you begin to learn, you must also look to make a decision. Do
you want to step into a pre-built program that is designed to
help you to succeed, OR do you want to create a completely new
program of which you are the sole owner?
If you decide to step into a pre-designed and complete turn-key
online money-making venture, then you must select the right
venture to step into. If this is your decision, I encourage you
to check out the Plug In Profit Site at:
http://www.successcentral.biz
If you decide to go the journey on your own, then do all of the
necessary research, planning and preparation that is needed for
your success.
PREPARE TO SUCCEED
Decide what you think you would want to do, and then figure out
how your planned site will generate a real income.
Internet old-timers know about hundreds of corporation domains
that existed with IPO millions, but did not have an actual money
plan that could sustain their business model. Most of these
companies were among the hundreds of companies that bellied up in
the 2000 dot bomb experience.
Don't blindly believe in your plan. Research others on the web
who have undertaken similar business models and see if they have
survived. Study your competitors in depth to learn what is
working for them and what did not work for them. To better
understand what has or has not worked for competitor websites,
check out their time lapsed progressions using the Wayback
Machine: http://web.archive.org/
Once you have determined your money plan, then you should
undertake the development of a business plan and a marketing
plan. Utilize professional assistance if you need to do so. While
creating your plans, make a determination as to which domain name
you think would be best, then register it along with a hosting
account. You can do this at Host4Profit in Step 2 on this page:
http://www.successcentral.biz
Once you have developed your business plan and marketing plan and
have run them through several revisions, then it will be time to
buy your domain name and to begin work with a site designer and
developer. You may need to have your domain sitting on a web host
for your site developer, but this is not always necessary. While
they are doing their work, enlist a copywriter to help you with
your site sales copy.
When your site designer and developer have your site working, you
should then undertake significant testing to make sure everything
works as planned. It is much harder to fix problems on a
operational site than it is to fix problems on a site that has
yet to be launched.
When testing is done, then you should fill in your sales copy and
then shoot for launch. Of course, you already have a marketing
plan in place, so your preparation here will be simply a matter
of putting the pieces of the puzzle into place.
You are finally ready to open for business. Don't be afraid to
spend the money to bring your dream alive. Time can replace money
in the goal of starting a profitable online business, but money
invested can shave years off of your company's growth.

If You Are To Succeed You Must Burn Your Ships
I'd like to take a moment and congratulate you (Success Central's Marketing Students) for your commitment to stick with the program up to this point. Today's Blog Post is dedicated to your unwavering dedication to achieve financial freedom.
It looks like you have "the right stuff"!
The fact is some people drop out when they see there is a little work involved in building an Internet business. I don't really know why that is... People are willing to work their butts off for the guaranteed pay (however small it is) of a regular job, but some aren't willing to work toward building a business of their own and achieving financial freedom.
But you are different and I applaud you for that.
I'm different too.
When I got online and decided that I was going to make my living from the Internet, I personally committed myself to doing whatever it takes. As I explained in my story on the Success Central Site sign up page: "I stayed up learning, working and drinking coffee until 5:00 in the morning month after month filled with the hope of making money online. There were days when I'd come home late from my job, start working on the Internet, and work the entire night without going to sleep — and then go back to work the next day."
That story is exactly true for me and I personally believe that it's this level of commitment that is necessary for anyone who wants to break through and succeed on a high level with an Internet business - the Plug-In Profit Site or anything else for that matter.
Do you have that level of commitment?
In fact, it wasn't until I was in a "sink or swim" situation until my Internet business really took off. As I talk about on the Plug-In Profit Site sales page mentioned in our previous post, I was in the fundraising business. I was the Executive Director of Fundraising, but the reality of the situation was that the Non-Profit Organization I worked for owned me.
I was the "Chief Fundraising Director" which basically means I did everything from prepare speeches for fundraising events, to working grassroot efforts, to securing corporate donor participation and so on... I could never take a vacation because if I did, the Non-Profit Organization would have gone out of business. It couldn't operate without me and I couldn't operate without it.
The Executive Director/Fundraising position was the thing that was keeping myself and my family afloat financially, but I was no better off than someone tied down to an overworked blue collar job. I felt trapped, but I was determined to find a way out. That's when I read Robert Allen's "Multiple Streams of Income" book and decided that I was going to find a way to build a business online.
So I started working part time (in every spare minute) on figuring out how to make money with affiliate programs. Over time, I started figuring things out and making some money through many of the methods outlined in previous paragraphs of this post, but it wasn't until my boss for my Company told me that they weren't going to renew my employment contract that I really broke through the next level.
I was losing my plush Fundraising Executive position and I had a major life choice to make. I was earning a few thousand dollars a month from the Internet, but it wasn't enough to replace my Executive income or provide for my family. I had to decide between moving my career services to a new location, getting a job "for the man" or sitting at home and completely figuring out how to make this business work so that it could be the sole financial provider for my family.
Obviously, I chose the latter. It was actually an easy decision. I was following my one true passion at the time. My dream of being able to control my financial destiny through a little box (laptop) that I could carry with me anywhere in the world was too exciting to pass up. I had an opportunity to go full force for my dream and I grabbed it.
In those 30 days after being laid off on my Executive Director job, it was either make this business work and go broke trying.
This is the sink or swim situation I was in and that I needed to make the necessary psychological shifts to succeed.
In those first 30 days of going full-time online, I multiplied my online income 5 times. In the 90 days that followed, I doubled that. In the years since, my income as continued to grow exponentially.
But it's this sink or swim mentality that defines my success and the success of everyone who make it in this business.
You must eliminate the option of failure.
There is a famous story of Hernando Cortes that goes something like this:
"Hernando Cortes had a plan, he wanted to lead an expedition into Mexico to obtain its many treasures. He presented his plan to the Spanish governor, who was so excited that he gave him eleven ships and seven hundred men. Cortes did not tell the men or the governor the complete plan. After months of travel the eleven ships landed in Veracruz. Cortes had the men unload everything from all eleven ships. As they headed into their new adventure the men turned back and saw all eleven ships burning! Their reaction was to fight back, as surely an enemy had initiated such an attack. Cortes halted the men, as this was in his plan, he had ordered the ships to all be burned. Cortes did not know what he and his men would encounter in their expeditions. What he did know was that by "Burning the Ships" he had completely eliminated their option of going back. At the same time creating an intensely powerful motivation to succeed."
My friends, you must burn your ship(s) if you are going to succeed in this business.
What ship(s)? Most likely your current job...
I'm NOT saying you need to quit, but whatever it is that you are holding onto for security is keeping you mentally unprepared to pursue your Internet business with the FULL determination needed for you to break through to success.
INTERNALLY, you must find a way to "burn your ships of security" and start relying on your Internet business AS IF IT'S THE ONLY THING YOU'VE GOT.
Read that last line again. And again. And again...
THIS is the secret to success in this business or any other.
As soon as you make this internal shift, you will unlock forces inside you for growing and succeeding in your business that will surprise everyone - including yourself.
Likewise, if you cannot burn your ships of security, those same forces that exist inside you right now and which can set you free immediately will remain dormant and unable to carry you to the EXTRAORDINARY life that is possible.
This is something no marketing technique I can teach you in this post can do for you. It's something that must come from within you, and if it doesn't, no marketing technique I can teach you here will make a bit of difference.
Examine my words on this page and then examine yourself and your commitment to this business carefully.
Do you have what it takes? Are you as committed as you must be? Can you burn your current ships of security and are you willing to do whatever it takes to build new ones?
These are the central questions that must be answered by you and you alone which will determine your destiny in this business. Nothing is more important than this.
In reality, if you aren't willing to burn your internal ships of security, your success will be dramatically limited.
However, if you are absolutely committed to becoming successful, there is nothing ANYONE can do to stop you.
Success is purely a matter of commitment. If you are willing to keep going UNTIL you succeed, you WILL succeed.
It's that simple.

Why Would Anyone Want To Be An Affiliate Marketer?
When I got online looking for ways to supplement my income back in 2008 I didn't have my own product(s) to sell. Even if I would have had my own products, I didn't have the knowledge required to know how to sell them online.
So the FIRST thing I did after reading Robert Allen's Multiple Streams of Income book was get on his conference calls to learn about OTHER ways to make money online since I didn't have my own products. That's when I first discovered affiliate programs.
I learned that there are a bunch of companies on the
Internet that will allow you to fill out a short application
and INSTANTLY become their affiliate. These companies
provide the products for you to sell, give you websites and
marketing tools to sell them with, follow-up with any
prospects you send their way, close the sale, ship the
products, handle customer service and complaints, and do
virtually all the stuff you would have to do if you were
selling your own products.
Then whenever someone you send to that company buys
something, you get paid a commission for it. It's a win-win
situation. The company is looking for more people to promote
their products and they only pay a commission when an actual
sale is generated. As an affiliate, you don't have all the
burden of providing the product or service, following-up,
closing the sale, handling customer satisfaction issues,
dealing with "problem people", etc. You just get people to
the company's website and the company takes care of all that
for you.
So being an affiliate is really a mindset thing. Would you
rather run a company that is responsible for providing the
product or service, starting relationships with prospects,
following up relentlessly to close the sale, shipping the
product, handling returns, dealing with all the customer
service issues including people who are only want to give
you a hard time... Hey, a lot of people love doing those
things and that's great. We need those kind of people and
I'm deeply thankful for them myself.
Or would you rather simply focus on bringing prospects to
the table and letting the company do all the "dirty" work
for you? This is the choice of an affiliate.
The amazing thing about affiliate marketing is that you can
often earn a lions share of the profit. Yes, many companies
are willing to pay you more than they earn themselves for
making a sale. For example, there is one affiliate program I
do very well with called Empowerism.
Check it out here:
http://www.pluginprofitsite.com/main-28868
Through my online traffic generating strategies I send
hundreds of people to that website every day and a bunch of
them sign up for an Empowerism membership because they see
that Empowerism offers a great service for a good price.
Empowerism charges $29.95 to become a member and do you know what I get paid when I refer a new member? $20.00.
That's a 65% commission! :-)
Isn't that great?! Empowerism does all the hard work of
providing an great product and all that goes along with that
including accepting all kinds of payment, handling all the
customer support issues, etc. and they pay ME as the
affiliate the lion's share of the profits!
That's why affiliate marketing (when done intelligently) is
the BEST way to make money online. Sure, most programs on
the Internet don't pay anywhere what Empowerism pays,
but there are are some that do. In fact, that's what the
whole Plug-In Profit Site system is about - connecting you
to a handful of proven affiliate programs that pay out
MIGHTY commissions. See all my top earning programs here:
http://www.pluginprofitsite.com/main-28868
And that's a BIG secret right there. There are THOUSANDS of
affiliate programs on the Internet. But the fact is you
could put the exact same energy into one program as you do
another and earn 100 times more. You MUST choose the RIGHT
programs if you're going to succeed in affiliate marketing.
I've seen so many people fail in this business simply
because they joined the WRONG program(s). They put their
heart and soul into promoting it, but it never produced big
profits for them. These people leave the Internet thinking
that affiliate marketing is a scam, but the truth is often
that they just joined the wrong programs. If they would have
put the same energy into another affiliate program (one that
actually converts prospects into customers and pays YOU the
Lion's Share of the profits), they would have succeeded.
So think about that as you continue your journey of learning
about affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing can be the
easiest and the best way to make money online because you
can get started INSTANTLY (even if you have no products of
your own or prior experience) and the company handles all
the "dirty" work for you. But affiliate marketing can really
only be the easiest and best way to make money online IF you
choose the RIGHT programs to promote.
I've been doing this since 2008 and have tested out hundreds
of the most popular affiliate programs in that time.
Whenever you do something long enough, the cream always
rises to the top. Out of the hundreds of programs I've
tried, there are only 5 that consistently produce the most
profits for the least amount of effort for me. Those are the
5 affiliate programs that are part of the PIPS system.
If you want to avoid joining the WRONG programs and get on
the fast-track to affiliate marketing success, I encourage you
to get started with the Plug-In Profit Site right away at:

The Balancing Act Between Running A Successful Home Businesses And Raising Children; What To Do?!!
Operating a home business is seldom easy and interruptions come in all shapes, sizes and forms.
Between the family, friends and neighbors who call or come by, and the telemarketers who insist on ringing your number off the hook, getting through the workday can be a real challenge.
When you introduce children into the home office environment, your productivity and patience can be seriously tested.
For example, right now my extremely energetic boys are pulling
me from one side to the other in hopes of my conceding to a game
of basketball. Clearly, I'm in the middle of something important here, but how can I say no to those eyes? I'll be right back...
Ok, that wasn't so bad was it? They're happy, I'm happy (having
bonded with my boys) and now I'm back to continue my
conversation with you. :-) What's the lesson here? Flexibility
is a major key to balancing your home business priorities with
your family's needs.
I can tell you from first-hand experience that maintaining a
deep level of concentration on work in a home business for long
periods of time is next to impossible. Naptime does offer some
reprieve, but any break from the kids is usually short lived.
Even with older children, summertime introduces new challenges
with kids running in and out of the house all throughout the day.
I would like to share with you some of the tips I have
discovered to help manage your home office with children in
your midst. Since children of different ages pose different
challenges, I will present my tips in terms of age groups.
OLDER CHILDREN AND TEENS
We will look at older children first since they pose the least
challenge to our work productivity.
Children, who are old enough to understand the idea of schedules
and chores, are old enough to understand the needs of your home
business. Explain to your children that you do your work at home
so that you can be near them when they need you. But also be
sure they understand that you must do your work so that you will
have the money necessary to keep your house, feed the family and
to provide them with money for entertainment.
Once your children understand the necessity of your work, then
outline a work schedule and explain it to them. Do make sure
they understand that emergencies are definitely an acceptable
reason to interrupt your work. Then make sure they understand
that between hours x and y, you will be doing work --- and then
hold them to respecting your schedule.
INFANTS
Infants will never understand your needs for work. But
fortunately, babies do well under a schedule or routine. Instead
of expecting your child to work around your schedule, schedule
your work around the needs of your baby.
It is simple. Babies eat, sleep and poop. Sometimes they play.
Fortunately, babies sleep more than they do anything else.
Naptime offers the best advantage for getting your work done.
Get your baby into a routine of eat, sleep and play, and you
will experience unexpected levels of productivity.
TODDLERS
If you have a toddler running around the house while you are
operating your home business, then you may find that your hair
turning gray or disappearing altogether. But, gray hair is a
sign of character, right. ;-)
I am venturing to guess that the person who devised the door
lock for the inside of the house did so because he had toddlers
in his own home. Inside door locks should only be utilized when
you are making that important phone call and your toddler is
screaming for your attention. At all other times, your door
should remain unlocked with your door open.
Develop a routine with your children for meal times, naptimes,
and play times. Work these times into your work schedule and
adhere to them. If you fail to keep appointments with your
children, your children will have less respect for your work and
do more to prevent you from the completion of your work.
Don't be afraid to let your children sit in your lap while you
are working. It helps them to feel wanted and it helps them to
be a part of your daily life. There are times when it is okay
for them to be sitting in your lap while you work, and at other
times you need them out of your lap. Don't be afraid to tell
them to get down and go play or read a book so that you can
resume your work.
Permit your children to have their toys in your office. Often
they will sit contently and play while you work. Just knowing
you are near is enough to keep them happy.
Be prepared to take an hourly break to deal with your toddler.
Try to do potty breaks at your hourly break and to do drink
refills. This can help your child grow into a routine that will
work well with your home business. At each break, spend a few
minutes with your child giving hugs and kisses and talking with
your child about what he or she wants to talk about.
Toddlers don`t always do well with the routine, so be prepared
to take a few minutes when needed to give the attention that
your child so desperately needs in the moment.
IN CONCLUSION
I hope these tips serve to help you in the challenge of
operating a successful home business.
My home business permits me to fulfill my financial obligations
*AND* see my children grow up. I would never contemplate trading
my home business for another kind of business. Even with the
added challenges of dealing with toddlers in my home office, the
upsides far outweigh the downsides.
Growing my own home business with children around has definitely
given me a new respect for all people who successfully run a
home business with kids in the work environment. I tip my hat to
you... You deserve it!

Breaking Even With Multi-Level-Marketing Burn Out...A Gift For You
Who isn’t experiencing Internet Marketing Burn Out these days? Most people are. How many thousands of emails do you think you’ll get this year promoting the next best thing since internet sliced bread? Well, if you’re tired of just waisting money on every new money-making system under the sun, and are ready to build a real business, you should definitely consider selling physical products. One Company in particular that I've stumbled upon has helped individuals just like your-self achieve thousands of dollars under this formula approach (SFI) http://www.sfi4.com/10968183/REAL. Now, when I post my usual blog posting, I do not advertise or promote businesses or business adventures. But, I felt obligated to at least mention the extraordinary opportunity to my followers and readers who have in time past expressed their desire to earn a no-hassle and residual income. Thus, this post.
In early 2008 Success Central Enterprises LLC started a little site ("SUCCESS CENTRAL") selling physical products in a very small niche. By October of that year we were doing $20,000 per month in sales. Last year while many of my Internet Marketing Friends were feeling the effects of the the recession, we were able to Dramatically Grow our business to $666,249.31 in sales for 2009.
Now this is a very small niche site so quite frankly, you might be surprised by those results and the fact that our sales continue to increase in 2010. These niche markets are prime for the taking and growing a real internet business that has nothing to do with internet marketing.
If it’s done right, you’ll rarely see an unhappy or disgruntled customer. They will thank and praise you every time they buy from you. Plus I’m selling things that are really fun for me to market and sell. I know it’s not quite like the other internet businesses you see out there. It does take some work and effort. It’s not going to make you tens of thousands of dollars overnight. But for many people, it’s the kind of real solution they’ve been searching for.

Breaking The Shoestring Budget Of The Recession
Whether seeking a supplemental income or a full-time income,
many folks have undertaken the task to discover a viable home
based business solution to meet their personal needs.
For most folks who contemplate a home business, a low-cost or
no-cost solution is not only nice, but also very necessary. Many
also seek to find a home business that will permit them to
maintain their regular day job in order to protect their base
income.
Taking the cautious approach to a home based business and
keeping one's job during the start-up period is often a very
good decision. By maintaining one's job, one can maintain the
health of their personal finances while permitting their home
business grow healthy and strong.
Fortunately, most home based businesses can be started with
little or no cash, can be maintained on a shoestring budget, and
can be operated successfully with only a part-time investment.
One day, the business will be strong enough to support itself
and its owner. When that time comes, it will make good sense for
the business owner to leave his or her outside job to dedicate
more time to growing and maintaining their new thriving home
based business. You will know when that time has finally arrived.
The nature of a home based business makes it easy and very
realistic for most folks to take the plunge into home business
ownership.
Yet, many folks put off starting their own home based business,
because they have the misconception that they will have to risk
thousands of their own hard-earned dollars at start-up. Then
later, if their business fails, they fear they may be forced to
take out a second mortgage on their house just to stay out of
bankruptcy.
Are you one of these folks? Do you let your fears of failure
keep you from reaching for your dreams?
If so, then allow me to introduce you to a few home business
ideas that you can start for less than $100 and can be started
and operated very profitably as a part-time business.
THE LIFEBLOOD OF ALL SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSES
First of all, let me advise you to search out a business model
that will deliver steady and repeat business. It is the one
thing --- above all others --- that will assure that your
company can survive the test of time.
HOME-BASED MAIL ORDER:
Home-based mail order is a good example of how one can quickly
grow a home business income. Mail order is a low cost start-up
business that can be launched for around $100 USD.
With proper planning, your home-based mail order business will
not require up-front inventory purchases. In the mail order
business, it is not uncommon to rely upon drop-shippers for
product fulfillment services.
By utilizing drop-shippers, we can sell the products, collect
the money and then purchase the products from the wholesale
outlet. The wholesale outlet will then put a return address for
your company on the product packaging and deliver the product
directly to your customer.
Your primary expense in the mail-order business is advertising.
Classified advertising tends to be a relatively inexpensive form
of advertising with thousands of outlets available to the small
business owner.
WHOLESALE BUSINESS:
Buy low --- sell high. You can acquire high quality,
top-of-the-line merchandise for a fraction of the retail cost.
AUCTIONS:
Auctions can be an excellent source for buying cheap and selling
high. Both government auctions and Internet auctions can lead to
some excellent profit opportunities. Auctions are an excellent
tool for both acquiring and selling merchandise.
MAKE AND SELL YOUR CRAFTS:
Crafts are a hot seller at country fairs, swap meets or anyplace
where people gather. Make your own crafts and sell them for a
tidy profit!
SELLING INFORMATION:
Selling information by mail is another good example of an
inexpensive home based business start-up. One can gain the
resale rights to information for usually about $50 USD. Other
costs will include printer cartridges, paper and postage. There
are plenty of free classifieds sites on the Internet, in which
to successfully advertise your information.
WRITE INFORMATIONAL BOOKLETS:
Write and publish your own informational booklets; sell them at
a high price! All you need is a little know-how, a printer,
paper and stamps. This is a GREAT home business idea! You can
also sell the resale rights to others, for extra profits. In
this age of the Internet, you may also take advantage of the
fact that selling information is one of the most profitable
endeavors one can pursue online.
OFFICE SERVICES:
Offer office services for hire in your local paper. You'll be
surprised at the amount of regular office business that can be
gleaned from one little classified ad. Word processing, typing,
accounting, data entry, proofreading, transcription, promotional
letters and newsletters. All these tasks can be accomplished
right from your own home office.
AVON REPRESENTATIVE:
Yes, Avon's been around for eternity, hasn't it? Then it's not
such a bad prospect as a home based business, is it? I once knew
a woman who did so much business as an Avon rep. that she had
people calling her and knocking at her door wanting to order
products at all hours of the day and night! Once you are an
established Avon representative, you, too, will turn a good
profit.
CONCLUSION:
On your search for the ideal home based business, try not to get
caught up in any scams that will run off with your money. There
are thousands of scam artists out there just waiting for the
next sucker to come along. Remember, if it sounds too good to be
true, then it probably is. Just use your good judgement and

Don't Believe The Hype
Did you realize there are only three types of online
promotion?... This statement may seem odd and even untrue in your mind, but I am speaking in more general terms than you
might be thinking.
Let me explain.
The three types of promotion are Junk, Active and Passive promotions.
JUNK PROMOTIONS ARE MONEY PITS
Junk promotions are those that seem to produce results, but by
their very nature are really only illusionary promotions.
For example, let me begin with FFA (Free For All) pages. You
might find yourself subscribing to a submission program that
tricks you into believing you are submitting your links to tens
of thousands search engines.
According to the Open Directory website, they have only approved
1705 search engines and directories for inclusion in their
database (http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Searching/).
I like using the DMOZ directory as an example because submitted
links are tested by human beings with integrity, for the honesty
used in site description. Search Engine Watch and other search
watchers tend to show fewer than these 1705 engines, primarily
because a lot of the engines provide very little value.
Yes, you can submit your URL to a FFA page, but FFA's usually
only permit 100 or 1000 links on their page at any one time. So,
if ten thousand people are submitting a link to an FFA page on a
daily basis, then the average life of your link is between seven
minutes and 144 minutes. I suspect the actual number of
submitters is much higher and the results are much worse. Given
that few people surf FFA pages, the chances of your submission
being of any real value is practically nill!
Most of the people telling you that you can submit your site to
tens of thousands of search engines are truly only submitting
your site to FFA pages! Beware of the false promises.
Another junk promotion method is Safe Lists. A safe list is a
mailing group that is signed up to be received by people who
want to submit their own ads. Now, most safe lists have
thousands of subscribers who are able to submit their ads daily
or weekly. The person signed up to receive the list will receive
anywhere from twenty to 140+ messages a day from the list. These
messages will be received by people only interested in promoting
their own thing who do not have the right motivation to open,
let alone read Your Advertising. As a result, thousands of
messages go out daily or weekly that will never be seen by
anyone but the sender of the ad. Where is the value in that?
There is none.
ACTIVE PROMOTIONS
Active promotions are the type that require you to go out on a
daily basis or a weekly basis and put out your advertisements.
With active promotions, you will either place your advertising
or you will not sell your products or services. Your choice is
simple --- work or starve.
Examples of active promotions include Pay Per Click Search
Engines (PPCSE's), Direct Email, Ezine Advertising, Solo Ezine
Ads, Newsletter Publishing, Ezine Ad Swaps, Classified Ads,
Auctions, Site Sponsorship and Banner Ads.
Some people are able to utilize these methods very productively,
while others are destined to drop their money into the
bottomless pit of failed Internet promotions.
PASSIVE PROMOTIONS
Passive promotions are those promotions that can continue to
provide results for you long after you have invested the work to
make them available to the Internet community.
Examples of passive promotions include: Link Exchanges,
Articles, Ebooks, Content Exchanges and Writing Testimonials for
others.
Let's look at articles as a solid example of my point.
You are reading an article that I have written to promote my own
business. This article is timeless and therefore could have been
written five years ago and still have been as valuable as it is today.
Due to the fact that the article is timeless, it can and will be
placed in newsletters/ezines and their accompanying online
archives, on websites and in ebooks for many more years to come.
As a result, this article will continue to serve me well beyond
the time in which I wrote it and submitted it to publishers and
webmasters for public consumption and publication.
This is the best example I can give you of an excellent passive
promotional method.
AVOID THE MONEY PITS
Many try and even fewer succeed to conquer the Internet and to
produce their dreams of online wealth.
My hope is that you will be one of the people who conquer the
challenges before you and to make a nice living while working
online. It will take drive, determination, study plus trial and
error, but you can make it work for you.
Please continue to educate yourself so that you can avoid the
money pits - instead, strive to find the money barrels. It can
be done. I am living proof.
